Tarout Island, Al Qatif county, Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia: western side of the 16th century Portuguese fortress. Castle built with sea mud, gypsum, and stone, located in the Deira neighborhood, Tarut Hill. The castle is located on a the island's tallest hill where ancient ruins were found, including the statue of the Sumerian Queen Ishtar, it is believed that this is the location of the temple of Queen Ishtar,built after King Gilgamesh expelled her from Mesopotamia, it is also built on the ruins of the temple of the Phoenician god Ashtarot and near a spring of water known as Ain al-Awda.
