La Paz is the seat of government and the de facto capital city of the Plurinational State of Bolivia (the constitutional capital of Bolivia is Sucre). With over 800,000 residents, it is the third-most populous city in Bolivia and one of the highest in the world, located in a high plateau in the Andes at 3,640 m and famous for is steep streets. La Paz is also known for its Cable Car (Teléferico) public transport system looming over its buildings.
