Magnolia liliiflora, commonly called lily magnolia, is a compact, rounded, shrubby, deciduous magnolia that typically matures to 4 meters tall. It is native to China, but has been cultivated over centuries in Japan and is sometimes called Japanese magnolia. Lily-shaped purple-pink flowers appear in spring (March to April) shortly before leaf development.
