Pollen grains from a variety of plants. Pollen grain size, shape and surface texture differ from one plant species to another. The pollen grains contain a male gamete (reproductive cell) that is intended to fertilise an egg or ovule (female gamete). This will initiate the formation of a seed for a new plant.
