Mazar-i-Sharif, Balkh province, Afghanistan: Shrine of Ali (Hazrat Ali Mazar) - with many pilgrims around the building, none standing out - also known as the Blue Mosque, considered (mainly by the Afghans) as the burial place of Ali ibn Abi Talib, the son-in-law of Muhammad, the most important pilgrimage site in Afghanistan. The Imam Ali mosque in Najaf in Iraq is considered many as the the burial place of Ali.
