A panoramic view of Colonia Tovar in Venezuela - South America. Colonia Tovar is a german style town established in 1842 on the mountains of the of the state of Aragua in the Coastal Mountain range in the northern part of Venezuela. In 1842 german inmigrants came to Venezuela and settled in this township founded by them. The land belonged to a landlord by the last name of Tovar who granted it to the germans to colonize this region. It has been one of the main tourist attractions of the central region in Venezuela since the beginning of the 20th century and is located 90 minutes by car from Caracas, the capital city of Venezuela.
