Hallacas - Venezuelan Christmas traditional food. Hallaca is a traditional and original dish of the Venezuelan cuisine. It is made of beef, pork, chicken and mixed with raisins, olives, peppers, onions, capers, and olives, wrapped in cornmeal dough and folded within plantain leaves. The Hallaca is then tied with strings, and boiled or steamed afterwards. It is typically a Christmas holiday dish and requires a very elaborated process that is normally made with a family meeting. Hallaca making takes approximately two days for the whole process.
